For landscapes I use a Leica R8 with 19mm, 35mm or 90mm lenses. I occasionally use a 180mm f3.4 telephoto lens with or without a x2 apo converter. I often use a polariser and/or a neutral density graduate filter to improve colour and contrast in skies and balance the tonal range between sky and land. I am not too fond of warm ups but sometimes in dull conditions or in rain I use the 81 series to offset the blueness of the light, but not to create artificial 'sunlight' effects. The sunsets shown are unfiltered and spot metered on the brightest part of the sky.

For close up work I use either the R8 with 60mm or 100mm MacroElmarits or a Nikon F90x and the 105mm f2.8 MicroNikkor.  I use natural light and often shade direct sun and use a reflector to put light into the shadows. I find that bright shade, or bright overcast conditions are best.
